The Confidence of the European Datacenter Leader

The European datacenter leader, Interxion, a Digital Realty Company, hired Cap Ingelec as manager for the design-build of 4,476 m² of computer rooms with Cari (Groupe Fayat). The site was located in a former naval-mechanics shop near the former submarine base in Grand Port Maritime de Marseille, France.

A Turn-Key Contract for an 8.9 MW IT Datacenter

After 10 months of hard work, the first phase was delivered in May 2018. In addition to its references (more than 900 construction/renovation projects), Cap Ingelec was chosen for its capacity to contribute to the design with a value-added solution with respect to the initial plans. In addition to its technical skills, it offered Interxion dual proximity with its Paris and Aix-en-Provence branches which enabled it to be close to the group’s decisions in the capital as well as the Marseille site. A “ubiquity” gift for the European datacenter leader which made of Marseille a highly-strategic location for its development.

Marseille: A Strategic Location

The choice of Marseille was not by chance. It is strategically located at the junction point of a vast network of underground cables linking Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. As a result, it can facilitate communications and provide operators with the ability to offer exceptionally-extensive access to data-generators. Under the impetus of Interxion, Marseille’s goal is to become a major, worldwide, digital communications hub.
