SAFT
A “TURNKEY” DRY ROOM
For many years, we have been designing and building clean rooms and cleanrooms for numerous clients who require a high level of expertise in strict compliance with cleanliness and controlled atmosphere standards, in particular for SAFT. A look back at an emblematic project in 2005…
In June 2005, Cap Ingelec delivered a 900 sqm dry room to the Johnson Controls-Saft factory on the Saft site in Nersac near Angoulême, intended for the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles. Retained within the framework of a “general time contract”, Cap Ingelec was responsible for the project from A to Z: its study, design and implementation up to its commissioning. A turnkey service which was finalised in record time. Cap Ingelec carried out the entire technical installation: high and low voltage, automation, air treatment with dew point temperature control at -40°, fire protection detection and process fluid networks (chilled water and electrolysis, helium), not forgetting the watertight partitioning, all on 900 sqm. The air treatment system was integrated into the technical attic and the air, prepared by dehydrators (silicagene wheel), was distributed by textile ducts.
The scale of the project and its financial and time constraints meant that no prototypes or trials were possible.
Moreover, the manufacture of this new unit was part of Johnson Controls-Saft’s production policy, defined by well-defined manufacturing processes. Cap Ingelec’s methodology was to anticipate all the constraints upstream.
