Under the Energy and Climate Act of November, 8th 2019, France has set itself the target of reducing its consumption of fossil fuels by 40% by 2030, achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and halving its greenhouse gas emissions by that date. Aware that its activities may present a level of risk, Cap Ingelec has chosen to pursue a committed policy in favour of the environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPERTISE
Cap Ingelec has developed genuine expertise in environmental approaches, in order to anticipate the major changes taking place in the world of industry, correlated with rising energy prices, the increasing scarcity of resources and the urgency of climate change. As an engineering company, we are aware that our activity consumes natural resources and raw materials. It also requires us to transport materials to sites, and generates site waste.
Faced with these challenges, we have developed environmental expertise in 2 areas:
ENERGY PERFORMANCE
Cap Ingelec has been active in the renewable energy market for many years, systematically incorporating energy efficiency into its projects by deploying energy-efficient systems. The company is also recognised for its expertise in renewable energies, on large-scale projects: biogas, biomass, hydraulic, wind, geothermal, photovoltaic, etc. Since 2014, Cap Ingelec has been a member of the ADEME International Club. Created in 1997, this club brings together more than a hundred innovative French eco-companies active on the global sustainable development market.
REDUCING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT
In addition to its actions in the field, Cap Ingelec is driving forward a genuine “low-carbon” policy within its teams. The main issues are waste management, energy consumption, travel and consumables (printing, paper, etc.). Numerous awareness-raising initiatives are also carried out each year among employees. A working group has been set up to define decarbonisation actions and pursue our sustainable development initiatives with our customers and service providers.
CONTROLLING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT: DELIVERING PROJECTS THAT MAKE A POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION TO THE ENVIRONMENT
We have a vital role to play in helping our customers fight against climate change. To do this, it is essential that Cap Ingelec and its main suppliers work together proactively. Environmental cooperation has therefore been put in place on our projects:
- Suppliers’ deliveries are made entirely from renewable energy sources. The Supplier shall use physical renewable energy or obtain Certified Renewable Energy Credits (CERs) for all energy used to provide services on a project.
- Share relevant data and identify sustainable development initiatives.
- Ecovadis-certified suppliers.
4 OBJECTIVES FOR 2030
Developing renewable and recovered energy
Decarbonising our customers’ activities
Reducing our direct CO2 emissions
Developing the use of electricity
CARBON BALANCE
In 2023, Cap Ingelec has set up a working group on decarbonisation and a waste treatment process on our sites and in our branches (recycling). In 2023, our objective is to prioritise the reduction actions to be implemented and involve our teams in the energy/climate issue.
Cap Ingelec’s activities in 2022 generated 57,796 tCO2e (Scope 1: 655 tCO2e – Scope 2: 21 tCO2e, Scope 3: 57,120 tCO2e, equivalent to):
300 million km driven by car
25 million reams of paper consumed
3,400 tonnes of beef
24,000 return flight Paris/New York
REDUCING THE COMPANY’S ENERGY FOOTPRINT
Cap Ingelec is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions with ambitious targets. Since 2022, targeted actions linked to travel and optimising the energy consumption of buildings have made it possible to reduce the carbon footprint of the company’s internal operations.
LIMITING TRAVEL & VIDEOCONFERENCING
Cap Ingelec’s first aim is to reduce travel and its environmental impact by encouraging videoconferencing with the Teams tool. Our analytical indicators show a significant reduction in business travel (excluding Covid-19).
MODERNISATION OF THE VEHICLE FLEET
Cap Ingelec has acquired a fleet of 190 “clean” vehicles for its employees. Average fuel consumption is 102 g/km. On the rating scale (ARVAL CO2 assessment 2018), Cap Ingelec ranks at level 2 in terms of pollution (low), making the company an example of eco-transport. In addition, to prepare for the arrival of electric or hybrid vehicles, the company has provided its employees with 4 charging stations (EVlink by Schneider Electric). There are plans to develop a hybrid and electric fleet.

ELECTRIC AND HYBRID VEHICLES
By 2022, Cap Ingelec’s car fleet will consist of 30% hybrid cars and 4% electric cars, i.e. a 10% increase in clean vehicles. In line with our CSR approach, Cap Ingelec is encouraging its employees to use electric power for business travel! Our Paris team is experimenting with the use of electric bicycles to travel to our customers or to work sites.
LIMITING PRINTING
As an engineering company, Cap Ingelec produces a large volume of paper documents (plans, reports, etc.). In order to limit the amount of printing required, the company has set up an intranet to facilitate the storage of documents, and has configured its printers to favour 2-column and/or double-sided printing. The next step is to introduce a new printing policy, defined using the Watch doc application, to control printing and make users more responsible.
SELECTIVE SORTING
For a number of years now, Cap Ingelec has been making its employees aware of the importance of being eco-citizens. The spearhead of this ecological approach is the introduction of selective sorting in the branches. The aim is to recycle cardboard, paper, etc. This year, through the “Elise” company, we have put in place a system for recovering our office waste.
GOAL ZERO PLASTIC
No more plastic bottles lying around on desks! Cap Ingelec has equipped all its employees with a reusable glass bottle, because glass can be recycled ad infinitum!
SITE WASTE MANAGEMENT
Supporting companies in managing their waste, from preparation to the end of the worksite. Encourage environmentally-friendly behaviour. Increase the quantity and quality of recyclable materials. Make the most of waste by directing it towards the appropriate recovery channels.
REDUCE THE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT OF YOUR WATER CONSUMPTION
Water is an essential resource, but not all water is created equal when it comes to environmental impact. When bottled, it worsens our carbon footprint through packaging, transport and the waste generated at the end of the cycle. Cap Ingelec has therefore installed water fountains equipped with a micro-filtration system in each branch.
DIGITISATION
In 2020, we embarked on a digitisation process with the deployment of the electronic signature platform: DocuSign. This system significantly improves the signing process for our subcontracts, purchase orders and confidentiality agreements. The implementation of DocuSign is one of the pillars of our move to “all digital” and therefore the limitation of paper printing.
